IC
Character Name: Asuna Yuuki
Canon: Sword Art Online
Canon Point: Alicization Vol 9, After Kirito is "dying"

About:

Since Asuna was young, her mother did everything she could to make sure she would function in society as a well-mannered lady and a hard worker. Even now, these are the qualities Asuna prefers people know her as and the impression she gives off initially. Coupled with her stunning beauty, is it any wonder that she's had stalkers and extremist fans in her life? Popular enough to practically be considered an idol in the game, Sword Art Online, where she was trapped for two years. Beautiful enough to be kidnapped and held hostage for two months by a man who wanted to be her husband and take over her father’s company through that marriage.

To the people that do know her more than what she reveals at a surface level, she's just a normal young woman who’s strong out of necessity and determination but possesses a fragile heart. Her family is busy a lot of the time, so as a young girl she was usually alone and entertained herself. The benefits to being a girl from a rich family is that that there was no shortage on the possessions she owned. She got into trouble once or twice (taking down a sword from a mantle and swinging it around, refusing to eat her vegetables as all young kids do, spilling soup on herself) so she's not as perfect as all those stalkers and fans seem to think she is. No matter how hard she tries to portray herself a certain way.

First meetings with Asuna usually amount to people thinking she's a level-headed, straight-laced type of person with no time for nonsense. Her mother was a strict and controlling figure in her life. This led Asuna to having a lot of decisions made for her and developing a motivation born from her mother's high standards. Asuna works hard and does her best in everything. Both for herself and in order to prove herself. No matter where she goes, that hasn't changed about her. Sometimes this led to pushing her guild mates, members of The Knights of the Blood Oath, a bit too hard as well. For any goal she decides on, she bulldozes through any obstacle to does her best to achieve it. While in SAO, her only purpose was to beat all of the floors as quickly and as efficiently as possible. To do so, she becomes one of the top players despite never playing a game of that caliber in her life. It's because of her attitude and intelligence that allows Asuna to thrive in a place that otherwise led a lot of people to their death.

For a long time Asuna had nothing but her desire to do well in school: stay at the top of the class, get into a good high school, then college, and then get a good job. As any normal student would, right? When she was thrust into SAO, she abruptly lost that path but gained a new freedom for the first time in the process. One she didn't have in the Yuuki household. Now, she finds her path and purpose in making others happy. Kirito, Yuuki, and all of her friends have taught her it's possible to live this way. She's struggled with her problems of self-worth and finding inner strength ever since beating SAO. Since beating SAO, she lost a monumental part of herself that she was proud of. Through all her experiences since then, she's realized something -- knowing who she is, accepting it, and gaining a little more confidence in herself.

It's best if you don't get on her bad side. Easy ways to get there is to threaten people she loves or to get in her way when she has a serious goal in mind. Although she has been raised to keep good manners in mind, she has a temper. She doesn't appreciate being told what to do. A lot of her issues with decisions being made for her stems from her controlling mother. She wasn't able to stand up to her until she met Yuuki, a girl who had been diagnosed with a mutated form of AIDs that put her in critical condition. It was Yuuki’s outlook on life in her circumstances to keep smiling and keep moving forward and how strong she was that moved Asuna. Asuna has always been daring and brave as she had put her life on the line numerous occasions to save others in SAO but when it comes to people she knows in real life, she's far more reserved and non-confrontational. Because of Yuuki’s own inner strength, she has been able express herself more freely without reservations and without fear.

Despite her self-doubt, she still manages to be strong. With her extreme determination and intelligence, Asuna is able to think of strategic battle formations and attack patterns that lead to victory. Asuna was hailed as a "Floor-Clearing Badass" and was known as "The Flash" because of her speed and skill with her rapier. Her guild and the Sleeping Knights guild looked to Asuna's leadership skills and experience to come up with effective strategy against formidable bosses. She's a quick study, able to adapt and pick up on the mechanics of how to play an MMO like SAO. Not only that, but her natural talent and potential to do anything she wants is bolstered by willpower.

There is a more humorous side to her temper although Kirito gets the brunt of it because she's the closest to him. When she’s embarrassed, she can get angry. He's had to suffer her stubborn side more than anyone too, as they've known each other the longest. Kirito is someone she feels comfortable being spoiled and playful around even more than her friends. She’s fine being herself. She asks to ride his shoulders, much to his chagrin, and says they're going to set a course "South by Southwest!" It's because of him, and falling in love with him, that Asuna learned how to enjoy life and living. Eventually, she realizes that meeting him and spending time with him is the reason she logged into SAO on that first day. He's her motivation in a lot of aspects in her life ─ to be strong, to be happy, to have purpose. Asuna fell in love with Kirito because he was her hero in many ways and continues to be. (BECAUSE REKI HAS A BONER FOR KIRITO)

Once you get to know Asuna, she's way more of a nerd than she first seems and has a very squishy center. When it comes to the people she's affectionate and protective towards, people she's more open with, it is hard to find fault in her quirks and warm disposition. She was able to befriend a girl known for having an icy attitude and use the nickname "Sinonon" without any complaints from her. Asuna adopted a young girl, Yui, without a second thought when she seemed abandoned and quickly accepted being called “Mama” by her. The closer a person is to her, the more Asuna opens up her true self instead of the serious and polite ojousama everyone else sees.

At her heart, she's a sensitive soul. There are things she loves, cooking and baths, and she's a bit doe-eyed when it comes to fancy jewelry and beautiful scenery. She hates the nickname “Berserk Healer” that’s been given to her by the MMO populace because it’s not very delicate. For four million col, she bought herself a house in SAO with her own kitchen. That childish side of hers? Also terrified of things in the horror category, particularly ghosts. Any of the horror-themed dungeons in Aincrad she made excuses to not be a part of. Even if Asuna seems like a earnest, well-mannered lady at a distance once you get close to her it’s easy to see that she is soft and caring and a bit dorky at times when the mood strikes her. More than anything, she cares about other people and their well-being. At the end of the day, Asuna is someone who others can depend on but also depends on others just as much.

What are your plans with this character? I don't know yet! But I do know I want Asunyan to be a thing and she'll fit in well with the overall atmosphere here because the VRMMORPG games she's played in have the same kind of architecture and she's used to teams, having been in a guild and parties. Plus, I want to play out how she'll handle Kirito "dying" in her canon point.

As soon as Asuna entered a store on the corner, she inhaled deeply. Immediately, she was surrounded with the scent of freshly cut wood. It's not a smell that could ever really be recreated in any of the games she's played in. It reminded her of the forest, of being surrounded in trees and the cabin she shared with her in-game husband. With a small smile on her face, she walked around idly and picked up things to look them over. A sculpture of a sword made her smile grow briefly before she spotted a beautiful wooden table, not unlike the one she found once while shopping with Kirito.

She walked over as calmly as possible but couldn't resist the urge to lay her hands on top of the smooth finish. Without thought, she rubbed her hands across it before she chose to just lay her cheek down on the cool surface. Her smiled turned downright blissful. Ah, it would be perfect in the cabin, wouldn't it? She never could find the right table in ALO like she could in SAO. Most of the furniture was NPC made. Once she pulled back, she took a look at the price tag and held back a snort. About as expensive as she expected, too.

Kirito wasn't here to make a fuss over it like before, though. Maybe she should have invited someone to go with her. While she admired the craftsmanship of the wood, mused over how lonely she was without everyone, she heard a sharp cry and her head turned towards it.

"Stop! Stop thief!"

Thief?

Her Perfect Table would have to wait. Eyes narrowed, Asuna rushed to the sound of the distraught voice and found a girl almost in tears. "Which way did they go?" Of course she was going to go after the thief. Of course. If he made a girl cry. Shaken, the girl's finger pointed outside and to a figure who ran down the street. "I'll be right back. Don't worry." The bell above the door made an innocent jingle before she was hot on the robber's heels, a trail behind her like a meteor. He wouldn't get far, she would make sure of that. Thieves like this existed in SAO and ALO too, but their manner of theft was much more convoluted. Just taking something from a store and running was so simple compared to the schemes players went through just to get an item from someone else. Like a rare ring, and a man that killed his wife in order to get it.

Within a minute, Asuna pushed the thief back in the store with an expression that's mostly serious. This person would never be nearly as bad as someone who killed someone else to get something they wanted. Never.

"Now, say you're sorry."

"I'm not gonna- ow! I-I'm sorry."

"Please return the object you stole." He held it out in front of him and Asuna slapped his back. Kind of hard. "And don't do it again." The girl was clutching her hands together, looking at Asuna like she was a hero. Once she saw this, Asuna turned a little red but smiled warmly.

"So fast. Like a comet! Ms. Comet!"

"Eh?" Please, no more nicknames. "J-just Asuna is fine!"
